Hays Travel brings in new head of marketing

Hays Travel has appointed an experienced travel professional as head of marketing.

David McNiven has joined the travel agency chain after working in senior marketing roles, including chief operating officer at digital marketing firm Curtis Gabriel. He also founded his own business and has previously held marketing positions at Expedia Group and Cairn Hotel Group.

He will work alongside Hays’ head of digital Sukie Rapal, who previously covered both digital marketing and the broader marketing role. She will now focus purely on digital marketing.

Both McNiven and Rapal will report into Hays Travel director of strategy Lisa McAuley.

McNiven said: “I am delighted to join the Hays Travel marketing team and have received a very warm welcome.

“Hays Travel is a trusted brand with strong values; I am excited to have been brought on board to build upon these superb foundations and ensure Hays Travel delivers best-in-class marketing activity for its customers and partners.”

McNiven has also worked at several London-based marketing agencies and has experience of campaign creation and management, marketing strategy, partnership marketing and digital advertising.

McAuley described McNiven as a “strong addition” to the marketing team.

She said: “We are thrilled to welcome him to Hays Travel – he understands the brand and is a great fit with our values. During the appointment process we were impressed by his data-driven, strategic approach, his proven campaign experience, and success using multiple channel marketing.”
