ITC Travel Group is to give all its staff a day off on Monday to mark the first stage in the government’s easing of lockdown.
The luxury operator said its 160 employees would be encouraged to “grab their deck chairs and picnic baskets and reconnect with their loved ones in parks and gardens locally”.
Under the government’s roadmap for exiting lockdown, outdoor gatherings of up to six people or two households will be allowed, including in private gardens.
ITC chief executive Phil Aird-Mash said: “This is the first time in our 47-year history that we have closed our business during working hours.
“Our team have worked incredibly hard over the past year and we’re pleased that we can show our gratitude and allow them to enjoy the things that mean most – family and friends – as the country begins to open back up on Monday.”
