Luxury tour operator Azure sets up homeworking agency business

Luxury tour operator Azure has set up a homeworking agency with the chance for independent travel consultants to retain up to 100% of their commission.

Independents – Powered by Azure has launched with a pledge to provide independent agents with their own businesses the “freedom, flexibility, support and tools” to thrive in today’s market.

The company, which is touting for agents to join, said it aimed to address earning challenges faced by homeworkers in the current market, such as restrictive contracts, significant commission cuts and high fees.

It is offering agents the chance to keep up to 100% of the commission payments they earn on holiday sales. Agents will retain all their commission for selling Azure’s holidays and pay a “small administrative fee” for selling other suppliers. Traditionally homeworking agents in the travel sector retain between 60% and 80% of the commission paid for a sale, the company said.

The new agency also promises “no tie-ins or joining fees” and says agents can work with partners of their choice without being locked into long-term commitments.

The company has “full access” to more than 180 suppliers for homeworkers to sell and offers options to create tailored trips for clients. Head office administrative support will allow agents to focus on their business with the flexibility of working remotely, it adds. Holidays are Abta and Atol protected.

Azure chairman Edward Leigh said: “We saw a need in the industry for a more flexible, empowering model for independent travel consultants.

“With Independents – Powered by Azure we’re offering a unique opportunity for consultants to regain control of their business, keep up to 100% of their commissions, and still have the backing of a reliable, experienced partner.”

He added: “We’re more than a host agency; we are your partner for future success and ultimate freedom.”
