Flight-free travel specialist Byway has launched a collection of journeys aimed at Gen Z travellers in their late teens and early 20s.
Featuring train, boat and bus transport options, the holidays cater to gap-year travellers exploring Europe by rail and those seeking their first-time independent adventure tour.
Cat Jones, founder and chief executive of Byway, said: “Gen Z is emerging as a powerful force shaping the future of travel, shouting about the need for carbon reduction and pushing for authenticity and innovation.
“To make flight-free travel mainstream, we need more people following Gen Z’s example.
“We’re building Byway with and for Gen Z – many of our team are Gen Z – and the future of the planet they’re exploring and inheriting.”
Byway saw the proportion of trips booked by Gen Z compared to other generations triple in the first five months of 2023, compared to July to December 2022.
Furthermore, as a B Corp, Byway is committed to sustainability and said 86% of bednights it sold in the last year were not in international chain hotels.
The new collection of Byway trips averages a new place every 2.2 days and at roughly £204 per location per person.
Itinerares include Scandinavian Odyssey; Stop-offs to Sicily; From Europe to Africa; The edge of Iberia; Through Switzerland to Italy; and Discover Istria.
