Riviera Travel launches concierge service in response to demand

Riviera Travel has launched a concierge service for its river cruise product in response to customer demand.

The service will provide guests with a choice of regional airports, airline, door-to-door drop off and pre or post-cruise hotel stay when they book a river cruise.

Chief operating officer Robin Shaw told Travel Weekly there has been an increase in demand for flexibility from customers, and the operator has had to adapt in order to retain business.

“Customers are becoming more choosy and we are having to respond to that,” he said.

“We are finding time and time again that our customers want to spend additional days away either before or after their cruise and many want to have a door to door service.

“We have had lots of clients call up and say they want to book to go two days before their itinerary starts and, before we launched this new service, we would have to say they need to make their own arrangements and they would go and book with someone else, which we obviously didn’t want.

“Our customers are keen for more flexibility when they travel and we are happy to provide them with that.”

He added: “We want to be their first choice of operator and for us to fill that role we have to deliver what the customer requires.”
