South African Tourism expands trade team with training specialist

South African Tourism has expanded its trade team with the appointment of Byron Davis as trade training specialist.

He will lead the delivery of trade training and coordinate trade engagement projects for the tourist board in the UK and Ireland.

Most recently he was account manager at Booking.com and also has experience from roles with Cox and Kings, STA Travel and G Adventures.

Davis said: “South Africa is such a diverse, culturally rich country with some of the most iconic sights and activities, it makes promoting the destination super interesting.

“The role is very varied with my responsibilities including travel shows, workshops, webinars, events, agent incentives and hosting educationals.”

Kgomotso Ramothea, acting hub head of South African Tourism UK and Ireland, added: “We are delighted to have Byron on board to manage our trade training and engagement projects.

“Our trade relationships are incredibly important to us, which is why we have expanded our team to ensure that we can work even more closely with agents and tour operators to promote our beautiful country.”

South African Tourism has also launched a trade hub in partnership with the website Inspire My Holiday, which has collated information to help agents selling South Africa.

It includes key contacts at the tourist board, a list of trade partners, essential holiday information and high-resolution images to download.

South African Tourism is also part of the Big Agent Rewards website which rewards agents for their bookings. Agents can win tickets to see comedian Trevor Noah, cases of South African wine and delicious South African food hampers.
