Tui and National Geographic Expeditions partner to offer day tours

Tui and National Geographic Expeditions have partnered to launch a collection of one-day and half-day itineraries.

The collection of 48 tours, called National Geographic Day Tours, will launch in summer 2023 initially to Mediterranean destinations, with further plans to expand globally.

The tours will initially be offered through Tui’s subsidiary Intercruises to the group’s in-house cruise lines, while an additional rollout of booking options through airlines and hotels is planned for the future.

All tours will have a focus on topics including conservation, culture and history, and follow the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.

Itineraries include Barcelona, Spain: The Secrets of Restoration; Tarquinia and Vulci, Italy: The Heritage of the Etruscans; and Dubrovnik, Croatia: The Benefits and Flavours of Oyster Farming.

Peter Ulwahn, chief executive of Tui Musement, the tour and activities division of Tui Group, said: “The trend is clear: holidaymakers are looking for authentic experiences with a strong and educational story to tell and these National Geographic Day Tours deliver and surpass those expectations.

“They are a great support for Tui’s growth strategy.”

National Geographic Expeditions senior vice president Nancy Schumacher said: “Inspiring new experiences await out travellers thanks to this exciting collaboration with Tui.

“National Geographic Day Tours is just one more way we are expanding our National Geographic storytelling and travel opportunities around the globe, and we look forward to the new tours that our travellers will experience soon.”
