Variety Cruises recruits ex-MSC Cruises regional sales manager

Variety Cruises has recruited former MSC Cruises regional sales manager Lisa Burton as its new national sales manager in the UK.

The line, which operates eight ‘mega yachts’ around the world, said Burton had an “excellent track record in sales”.

Burton will be responsible for retail agent and tour operator business development in the UK and will report to Jarrod Zurvas, head of global sales, and Chris Lorenzo, UK managing director.

Lorenzo said: “This appointment is indicative of Variety Cruises’ commitment to the UK market and to UK travel agents who we see as the engine for future growth out of the UK for our unique cruises.”

Zurvas added: “We are delighted to welcome Lisa Burton to our international sales team and have high hopes for significant growth from the UK.

“We’re already seeing a significant surge in UK bookings as we have returned to operating a full cruise program.”

Burton (pictured) said she quickly saw the “huge potential” of  Variety’s unique yacht cruises exploring wonderful destinations beyond the reach of today’s larger cruise ships.

“I look forward to introducing our human sized, informal, friendly and sustainable cruises to my colleagues in the travel trade,” she added.

The line visits destinations including the Greek Isles, Croatia, Italy, the Seychelles, Costa Rica, Cape Verde and French Polynesia.

Burton’s position has been vacant since 2020, said Lorenzo.  “It was a logical time to fill the position,” he added.
