Carnival Cruise Line ship rescues two men stranded in Gulf of Mexico

A Carnival Cruise Line ship rescued two men stranded in a kayak in the Gulf of Mexico on Monday.

Carnival Jubilee crew spotted the duo off the coast of Isla Mujeres, Mexico and moved to bring them on board.

The men said they used the kayak to stay afloat after their boat sank.

They were evaluated by the cruise ship’s medical staff and given first aid and food.

A transfer to a Mexican Navy vessel was completed shortly after the rescue.

Carnival did not say how far off of the coast the men were when they were located or how long they had been in the kayak.

Carnival Jubilee is proceeding with its regular schedule after departing from Galveston in Texas on Saturday on a seven-day cruise.

The ship is due to call at Mahogany Bay, Roatan Island, Honduras, today (Tuesday).
