Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has confirmed its chairman has resigned from his position and from the line’s board.
Managing director Peter Deer said Fred Olsen Junior (pictured) had stepped down last month after 35 years in the cruise industry.
He expressed his thanks to Olsen Jnr for “his support and long service to our company”.
He said: “Olsen Jnr has been through the business through thick and thin and he just made that decision. He said it was the right time to step down.”
Deer added: “The boards for Fred Olsen Cruise Lines and our holding company continue to comprise Fred Olsen and Anette Olsen.
“All of us at Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, and our board, send our sincere thanks to Fred Olsen Jnr for his support and long service to our company.”
Deer said no decision had yet been made about finding someone to replace Olsen Jnr as chairman.
