Latin Routes adds Panama and plans more new destinations

Latin Routes has introduced Panama to its portfolio amid plans to expand further in Central America later this year.

Panama is the operator’s first new destination since 2019 and its second in Central America after Costa Rica.

The operator said more destinations would be added in the Central America region later this year.

For Panama, it has brought out an 11-day Highlights of Panama itinerary and two multi-centre offerings, the 18-day Panama & Costa Rica and 17-day Panama & Colombia trips.

The highlights trip features the Panama Canal, Bocas del Toro beaches, coffee plantations and the mountain town of Bouquete, the best place in the destination to spot the quetzal bird.

Product Manager Cat Davies said: “Not only is Panama our first new destination since we launched Guyana pre-pandemic, but it’s also our second destination in Central America, a region we expanded into with the launch of Costa Rica in 2018.

“Costa Rica has become one of our best-selling destinations, and with the introduction of Panama, which shares a border with Costa Rica, it offers the perfect multi-centre trip, giving more options in the region, and the opportunity to explore lesser-known areas of Latin America.”

Gaynor Atherton, business development manager, said Panama had a similar flight time as Costa Rica and boasted nature, cultural and historical experiences with a city, rainforest and islands.

She added: “For agents who have customers wanting to visit Costa Rica but face obstacles with availability, Panama is a great alternative.”

Latin Routes’ 11-day Highlights of Panama itinerary costs from £2,949pp and includes international flights, nine nights’ accommodation, a guided tour of Panama City & the Panama Canal, motorised canoe trip on the Gatun river and visit to an indigenous community, plus a guided walk and coffee tasting in Boquete.
