Intrepid Travel is expending its presence in Morocco as part of plans to raise the number of holidaymakers handled to 50,000 a year by 2026.
A three-year partnership with the Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) aims to capitalise on the potential of tourism in the country.
Four new itineraries are being introduced for 2024 as part of the initiative by the B-Corp-certified operator.
They include a rare venture through the ‘Happy Valley’, otherwise known as the Ait Bougmez region of the High Atlas Mountains.
Traversing the country’s third-largest peak by foot, travellers explore waterfalls, ancient ruins and vegetation, stopping for home-cooked meals in rural villages while learning about the history of the Amazigh people, the community that inspired the name ‘Happy Valley’. Eight-day tour prices start at £845 per person excluding flights.
A new week in Morocco trip has been developed for 18–29-year-old travellers with a lead-in of £505pp.
A five-day long weekend tour including climbing Mount Toubkal, the highest summit in North Africa, starts at £400pp.
An eight-day Classic Morocco tour leads-in at £950pp.
The operator’s Morocco tours have seen significant growth since the pandemic and the country is now one of its top-selling destinations globally.
Intrepid has 73 local staff based in an office in Marrakech and more than 2,000 departures in the country a year.
Morocco general manager Hala Benkhaldoun said: “We are thrilled to be launching this new partnership with MNTO, investing more in the development of tourism in my home country.
“Morocco is an extremely special place – one that more of the world should have the chance to see.”
