Agent showcases post-pandemic Australia tour on local radio

Leading northwest travel agent Ken Garrity has showcased his experiences of a month-long post-pandemic fam trip to Australia on local community radio station Radio Alty.

Garrity, director of Ken Garrity Travel in Altrincham (pictured, right), took the self-funded Big Bite of Australia tour alongside fellow agent Graeme Brett, of Westoe Travel.

The pair blogged about their experiences on travelweekly.co.uk and reported an instant impact on sales on their return.

This week, Garrity showcased the section of the tour covering areas including Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and coastal towns on his Radio Alty show Ken Garrity and Friends.

A second episode will be broadcast on January 3 and will cover Adelaide, Cairns, Alice Springs and interviews carried out during a journey on The Ghan train.

Garrity said the two episodes feature condensed versions of more than 40 interviews carried out during the trip, and he hoped they would get a broader audience through Radio Alty’s online channels.

Speaking after the trip in October, Garrity said: “We gained a lot of updated information and I’ve already had three enquiries in two days [since I returned]. It’s great for the future as there is pent-up demand for long-haul travel to the antipodes.”

He added: “The main message is Australia is open again for tourists.”
