Agents’ interest in cruise at an all-time high, says Clia chief

Travel agents have never been so interested in selling cruise as the trade becomes more aware of how lucrative the sector can be, said Clia UK & Ireland managing director Andy Harmer.

Clia is running its “biggest-ever” trade programme over the next 12 months, which Harmer attributed to
the increased demand from agents to learn more about the sector.

“Our portfolio for the rest of the year has never been bigger. It reflects the fact that agents are more keen to learn and engage than they ever used to be,” he said.

“Agents understand that cruise can be a big and lucrative part of their business and they want to learn more because they know it’s such a good part of the travel market to be in.

“We are seeing a genuine interest in engaging with the cruise lines, hearing about trends and discovering the opportunities that are available.

“Agents are also more interested than ever in different parts of the cruise sector, such as ultra-luxury and river cruise.”
