Ambassador reveals winners of autumn fjords fam trip

Ambassador Cruise Line has announced the names of eight agents who have won a place on a fjords sailing to Norway this autumn.

The fam trip is one of three announced in April, when the cruise line said it would be offering cruises to 60 agents later this year.

The seven-night autumn Fjordland sailing will depart on September 26 from Tilbury and visit Bergen, Flam, Eidfjord and Stavanger.

Twenty agent partners will join the Ambassador trade team onboard Ambience, with eight places having been won by agents in a competition which ran from June 7-17.

Agents were invited to send a video, a presentation or written proposal stating what they would do to get an Ambassador booking over the line.

Almost 100 agents entered the competition and each entry was judged on its creativity and inventiveness by an expert panel.

More: Ambassador Cruise Line appoints deputy head of trade

Karen Cameron, deputy head of trade at Ambassador Cruise Line, said: “We know there is nothing like seeing and experiencing a product first-hand.

“We were overwhelmed with competition entries from agents keen to join us on the trip.

“The quality of submissions was incredibly high, and it was genuinely difficult for us to choose from so many wonderful proposals.”

The other trips will be the eight-night Majestic Fjordland sailing from Tilbury on July 14 and the eight-night River Seine Experience & Antwerp cruise on October 19, departing from Port of Tyne.

The winners are:

  • Bridget Wilkinson, Your Co-op Travel, Kidderminster, a prolific poster of Ambassador offers on Facebook, with her video rendition of ‘Enjoy Yourself’, the cruise line’s signature theme tune;
  • Remi Creed, One Travel Club in Manchester, who has just launched a cruise specialist team and said she would document the trip via a ‘fly on the wall’ social diary;
  • Suze Newton-Staines, Inteletravel, who used the letters from the brand name to spell out reasons to sail with Ambassador: ‘A’ is for amazing itineraries, ‘M’ is for memories, ‘B’ is for best prices, etc;
  • Sam Wolanski, No Fuss Holidays, a homeworker with no previous industry experience who’s delivered fantastic results for Ambassador;
  • Joshua Newbert, Harley Travel, whose entry showcased a passion for cruising but also savvy use of social media to promote Ambassador experiences;
  • Pauline Dougherty, Travel Counsellors in Gillingham, who wrote a humorous poem highlighting Ambassador’s regional port offering;
  • Fallon McGilloway, Lincolnshire Co-op, who outlined various motivations to experience the ‘warmest welcome at sea’; and
  • Claire Body, ITE in Portishead, who shared a video of Ambition sailing from Avonmouth filmed from a clifftop. She wants to organise coffee mornings with customers in the region to chat about the convenience of sailing from Bristol.
