Cruise trade body Clia has postponed activities scheduled for its annual Cruise Week event because of national mourning for HM Queen Elizabeth II.
The initiative was scheduled for September 16-25 but will now take place from Friday September 23, because of the period of mourning and the funeral on September 19.
A statement from Clia said: “In observance of the period of national mourning, we feel it is appropriate to postpone Cruise Week activity by one week, with the new dates now confirmed as Friday 23 September to Sunday 2 October.”
The event will still see the same planned trade-friendly cruise initiatives and updates for agents to help them capitalise on marketing activity from the association.
The week will have a ‘Get Onboard’ theme, urging agents to take part – and showcasing to holidaymakers the many reasons people choose to take a cruise holiday.
Targeted trade activity includes marketing and social media promotions, using the hashtags #CliaCruiseWeek and #LoveCruise.
Exclusive cruise line deals and incentives for the trade will be published in the membership area of the Clia website.
The website will have a special Cruise Week page, showing agents how to capitalise on the week and offering assets to download.
