Clia river lines launch mentorship scheme for agents

Clia river cruise operators have launched a six-month mentorship scheme for agents to help them boost booking levels.

Agents at the Clia RiverView Conference in Budapest were encouraged to sign up to the River Cruise Mentor Programme by A-Rosa River Cruises’ UK & Ireland managing director Lucia Rowe, who helped develop the scheme.

Ten lines – including AmaWaterways, CroisiEurope and Avalon Waterways – have joined the programme so far.

Rowe said: “We’re launching today a collaboration between us river cruise operators. It’s something we thought about, developed and it’s for you to benefit from.

“We will be with you every step of the way.”

Agents who sign up will be assigned a mentor from one of the 10 lines. They will discuss plans to increase their river cruise sales with their mentor “at least once a month”.

“We’re gong to provide, insight, knowledge and ideas,” Rowe added. “Everybody who wants to expand their river cruise opportunities is welcome to join.

“Nothing is prescriptive. We work with you on the ideas we have or you have to help you grow.

“Progress and success will be monitored. It’s our firm commitment to show that we really believe in it. Sign up, get your assigned mentor and let’s get down to business.”
