Four arrested after robbery at Co-op Travel in Dudley

West Midlands Police arrested four men after a car chase on Thursday (February 24), in connection with an armed robbery last week at a Dudley travel agency.

The arrests were part of an investigation into a raid on Co-op Travel in High Street, Dudley, on February 18.

Four men had entered the agency about 10.20am, armed with a knife and machete. Staff were forced to open safes before cash was taken, said police.

The car chase began about 2.40am on Thursday when officers on patrol in Walsall spotted a stolen Seat which is believed to have been involved in the raid last Friday.

The driver tried to make off but was stopped by a stinger device shortly afterwards.

Three men, aged 18, 20 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft of a motor vehicle.

A second vehicle which was seen with the Seat was stopped by officers nearby and a baton was recovered from the boot.

A 30-year-old man was detained on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

All four were in police custody for questioning on Thursday afternoon and then released on police bail while investigations continue.

The police are asking for anyone with information to contact them via their website or by calling 101, quoting crime number 20/232934/22.
