Hays Travel to ‘open’ on Coronation Street

Hays Travel’s newest branch will ‘open’ later this year in Weatherfield, on the set of the world’s longest running soap opera – Coronation Street.

The deal is part of a new product placement partnership which will see a storefront on the famous cobbled street later this year.

Dame Irene Hays, owner and chair of Hays Travel, said: “We’re very excited to announce that our newest Hays Travel branch will open on the cobbles of Coronation Street later this year.”

Jason Spencer, business development director at ITV, said: “As a family-run business that’s been around almost as long as Coronation Street itself, we’re looking forward to welcoming Hays Travel to Weatherfield.

“We’re excited to be working with Dame Irene and the Hays team.”

Further details and an opening date for the new branch will be announced later.

Long-time fans of the soap opera will recall storylines from the 1990s which saw Coronation Street characters Deirdre Barlow and Alec Gilroy working for the fictional Sunliners Travel Agency.

The announcement has been made this week to coincide with the build-up to the coronation of King Charles on Saturday (May 6).

Hays Travel has already announced that more than 400 of its branches will close on Saturday to allow staff to watch the royal celebrations.
