Lata Expo to host its first travel agency programme

The Latin American Travel Association will host a dedicated travel agent programme for the first time at its annual flagship event.

Lata Expo (October 11-15) will be held in a virtual format and aims to stimulate trade, provide insight and valuable new business opportunities.

The new travel agent programme will include daily seminars and content sessions plus dedicated half-hour daily training sessions.

The opening training session, ‘An Introduction to Latin America’, will provide an overview of Latin America’s tourism offering.

Other training sessions will cover themes such as wildlife tourism, family travel, the luxury sector, and the gastronomy, to help agents learn the best ways to sell such holidays.

Colin Stewart, Lata chairman, said: “The travel agent community has become a focal point of our strategy so we are delighted to be able to welcome agents to Lata Expo 2021 with a dedicated travel agent programme for the first time in the show’s history.

“We want to engage with agents from all over the UK and understand how best to support them to be able to increase their destination confidence.

“From our research and focus groups, we know that there are gaps in the travel agent product knowledge related to Latin America and we want to address this to enable sales to the region and support tourism recovery.

“The travel agent programme at Lata Expo is just one part of our in our travel agent engagement strategy, and we look forward to welcoming agents to the Latin American travel community and establishing a working relationship to build upon in the future.”
