Training specialist recruits homeworking agent Kelly Howarth

AS Training has recruited homeworking agent Kelly Howarth as a specialist travel assessor.

Howarth will continue to run her agency with Travelosophers while working for AS Training on four days a week.

Howarth will be mostly working from home as she is based in Wokingham, Berkshire, while the head office of AS Training is in Bishop Auckland, County Durham.

She has been in travel for more than 26 years, having started her career with business travel agencies Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Portman Travel and BCD Travel.

Howarth has also worked with homeworking agencies Travel Counsellors, Freedom Personal Travel Advisors and Inspire, and as a customer service agent with Virgin Atlantic.

Her experience in education includes working for Windsor College and Bracknell and Wokingham College as a travel and tourism and hospitality lecturer and University College of Estate Management as an apprenticeship outcomes officer.

Howard said remaining a homeworking agent while working a travel specialist assessor will help her new role because she can keep up to date, work with suppliers and continue her own professional development.

Michelle van Sprang, of AS Training, said Howarth will bring new talent into the industry as well as training apprentices.

She said AS Training aims to develop the careers of new travel consultants and help train existing staff to boost their skills.

“Teaching and learning is delivered by Kelly directly to the learners via Teams or face-to-face each month,” she added.

“We do this individually and as part of a group, bringing likeminded apprentices together.

“Kelly has a huge passion for travel and this shines through; it is great to see that being passed on to the apprentices.

AS Training currently has four teaching staff and is looking to recruit two more.
