Travel Counsellors surpass fundraising target on Three Peaks Challenge

A group of Travel Counsellors completed the Three Peaks Challenge to raise more than £16,000 for charity partner Reuben’s Retreat.

The 23 Travel Counsellors and head office colleagues completed the feat in only two days last weekend and more than exceeded their £10,000 fund raising target.

They began climbing Ben Nevis on Friday afternoon (June 23), and reached the summit in seven hours before returning to base.

The next morning they headed to Scafell Pike where a number made it to the top despite brutal weather conditions.

Finally, it was on to Snowdon, which the team completed in five hours.

Travel Counsellors has been supporting Reuben’s Retreat since it was founded and named as its official charity partner four years ago, raising nearly a £250,000 in this time.

General manager Matt Harding, who also took part in the climbs, said: “This was a mammoth challenge and an incredible adventure with hardly much sleep but we are proud to now say we did it and have smashed our fundraising target thanks to the generosity of our colleagues, friends and family.

“We are really proud to support Reuben’s Retreat whose tireless efforts to provide solace and support to those in need has touched our team and we are humbled to be part of the mission to make a difference.”

Nicola Graham, founder of Derbyshire based Reuben’s Retreat, said: “We are incredibly grateful to each and every member of the team who took on this demanding challenge and raised so much for our charity.

“Every penny donated will be instrumental in funding the work we do here at the Retreat. Although we could not be with them literally; we were rooting for them every step of the way.”
