The Travel Network Group has developed a three-step process for its members to help them take on apprentices and tackle the sector’s recruitment challenges.
The initiative aims to “inspire the next generation of travel agents” and help members take advantage of the government-funded support.
TTNG has provided its members with an three-step process which includes creating an apprenticeship account, reserving funding and choosing a training provider that operates nationally.
Gary Lewis, TTNG chief executive, said it followed feedback from members who have sought support with job training and apprenticeship opportunities.
“We have done all the research on their behalf and facilitated the conversations with the training providers,” he said.
“With the simple three-step process, our members will be able to benefit from the additional support that apprenticeships provide, and medium- term, resolve the recruitment and retention issue that travel businesses are currently facing.”
In addition to the on-the-job training, apprentices will also receive a minimum of six hours per week external training.
