Vertical Systems appoints new managing director

The Vertical Group has appointed Ben Rodger as managing director of its travel technology company Vertical Systems.

Rodger moved across from his role as group marketing director having rejoined the business in March 2020.

He had previously working for the group in 2009-2012 before moving to the vacation rental market, followed by roles with Broadway Travel and MagicBreaks.

Rodger said: “I am thrilled to be in the role, having worked for Peter for many years. I already knew a lot of the Vertical Systems team and it is full of immensely talented, highly experienced, good people.”

Vertical Systems offers travel companies tech products such as Tarsc and VSL Pay, among others.

Rodger said he will introduce a “more modular approach” to projects, “ensuring our customers benefit from even quicker releases”.

Further changes at Vertical Systems see Darren Manning become sales director and David Becker become chief technical officer.

Between them, the pair have been with the company for 25 years.

“2024 promises to be another excellent year for our industry. We will step up our innovative approach to our two fast-paced industries: travel and technology,” added Rodger.

“We’re a family business which has been operating for over 40 years.”

Peter Healey, group chief executive, said: “Ben took over the challenging role as MD at my request in August.

“I am delighted with his appointment and the additional restructuring mentioned here is very timely.”

Vertical Systems’ previous managing director, Chris North, has left after more than 25 years with the group.
