Virgin Voyages to give away 2,021 sailings to ‘unsung heroes’

Virgin Voyages has released details about a competition where the public can nominate “unsung heroes” to try and win a place on a sailing with the line.

The Shipload of Love competition is scheduled to run for a year, with 2,021 places on board Scarlet Lady to be given away.

Anyone can enter their nominees by submitting a short video on the Virgin Voyages website, and travel agents – or ‘first mates’ – are encouraged.

The first 1,000 nominations will be accepted from Valentine’s Day (February 14) until March 16, 2021.

The line’s first ship Scarlet Lady (pictured) was delivered on February 14 last year.

Virgin Voyages said: “To honour the personal heroes that exist in our lives in a multitude of ways, Virgin Voyages is giving away a real Shipload of Love, starting with an open call to nominate a person who has inspired you, cared for you and helped you to navigate this past year for the vacation of a lifetime.

“This initiative is meant to pay tribute to those who have impacted our lives in a meaningful way. No good deed is too small, and no individual is to be overlooked.

“Love and beauty exist in the eye of the beholder, including our unsung heroes, who have shown us that their embrace makes the world a better place.”

Scarlet Lady is scheduled to offer Caribbean itineraries during its inaugural season later this year.

Virgin Voyages said it will name its yet-to-launch third ship and debut programme soon. Second vessel Valiant Lady is due to launch in November 2021.
