A fundraising campaign in memory of Tui travel agent Cassie Hayes reached its £7,000 goal in just one week.
The online appeal was established for the relatives of the 28-year-old who died after her throat was cut as she worked at the Tui branch in Southport.
The £7,000 target has now been achieved with travel agents from across the UK coming together to support Cassie’s family, the Liverpool Echo reported.
The total raised by the Travel Gossip Facebook group had hit £7,105 at the time of writing today (Monday).
The money will go her family to use as they see fit.
Hundreds of people fell silent in tribute to Cassie on Saturday outside the Tui branch where she worked. The crowd then broke into a spontaneous round of applause.
The silent tribute was organised by staff from nearby businesses. Many left their shops and joined the crowd that stretched far down the shopping area.
The silence marked exactly one week since the incident which occurred while Cassie was working at the travel agency.
Floral tributes have piled up outside the branch where Cassie worked. A post-mortem examination concluded Cassie died of shock and haemorrhaging due to a wound to the throat.
She died in hospital after being rushed for emergency treatment.
Andrew Burke (30), of St Helens, has been charged with murder. An inquest into Cassie’s death has been opened and adjourned until the outcome of criminal proceedings.
