Leger expects interest in battlefield tours to surge

Leger Holidays has added 21 new tours to its 2019-21 Battlefield Tours brochure, which was launched as the UK marked the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

Ashley Dellow, head of retail sales, said: “As millions watched the very moving events on TV over June 5-6, it really brings it home to everyone about how important it is that a brochure like the Battlefields is available for customers to continue to pay their respects.

“This is an ideal time to promote the Battlefields. At Leger, we always see a huge surge in interest after such important dates.

“Leger is the market leader within this sector and the only tour operator offering a standalone dedicated brochure to the battlefield tours.”

The 67-page brochure has 71 tours, covering both World Wars, Napoleonic wars, the American civil war and Vietnam.

Customers on the tours are accompanied by a specialist battlefield guide who can talk about the history of the site they are visiting.

One of the new breaks is Loos Anniversary, marking the 105-year anniversary of the Battle of Loos in France during the First World War.

It costs from £349 for three nights’ bed-and-breakfast accommodation and coach travel.

Another new tour commemorating action in the First World War is Battlefield St Quentin which costs from £359 for three nights’ bed-and-breakfast accommodation and coach travel.

Also new is Finest Hour: Battle of Britain which visits sites associated with the Second World War battle in southeastern England and northern France.

It costs from £529 per person, for four nights’ accommodation and coach travel.
