Seabourn has unveiled a partnership with award-winning musical songwriter Sir Tim Rice for a new show created for the luxury line’s new ship.
‘An Evening with Tim Rice’ will make it debut of Seabourn Encore in January 2017 when the vessel sails from Singapore on its maiden voyage.
The show will be introduced across the rest of the fleet, culminating on board Seabourn Ovation, which is due to enter service in spring 2018.
During the show’s run, he will make a select number of personal appearances on every Seabourn ship.
The concert-style presentation narrated throughout by Sir Tim, taking passengers on a musical journey through some of his best-known work.
The production features four Seabourn Encore singers and includes anecdotes and visuals from his personal archive.
Sir Tim said: “This is a first for me, it’s been an amazing experience, looking back over my career and the friendships that shaped it.
“The result is a show that you won’t find anywhere else. I’ve been lucky that my work has been shown around the world, so I love the idea of this production circumnavigating the globe on the high seas onboard Seabourn’s beautiful ships.”
Seabourn president Richard Meadows said: “We all love to be carried away by beautiful songs. We’re thrilled to be working with Tim Rice since he is one of the most versatile and prolific lyricists writing today.
“From Evita’s ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ to the Lion King’s ‘Hakuna Matata’ – I know our guests are going to be absolutely enchanted.
“This is such an exciting addition to the whole Seabourn experience, where our two worlds, onboard and on shore, are brought together to create a luxury trip like no other.”
