Monty Halls has been announced as headline speaker for the Lata Expo.
The broadcaster and environmentalist will take to the stage alongside moderator Simon Calder, who is returning after hosting the event last year.
Halls is a former Royal Marine as well as a broadcaster, speaker, naturalist and marine biologist.
He has spent over two decades leading teams in some of the most remote environments on earth including Namibia, Malawi, Tamil Nadu and Central America.
In 2018, Halls and his family featured in a conservation mission to the Galapagos for Channel 4 series My Family and the Galapagos, before a second series aired in 2020. As president of the Galapagos Conservation Trust, he remains involved in the fight for their preservation.
Lata Expo, which returns to the De Vere Beaumont Estate near Windsor from June 2-4, will welcome exhibitors from across the region including tourist boards, accommodation providers, cruise and airline partners, as well as tour operators, travel agents and media.
Lata chairman Martin Johnson said: “We are excited to be returning to Windsor for the second time and delighted to have Simon Calder once more guide our delegates through the Lata Conference.
“Monty Halls is a passionate advocate of responsible travel, and I am looking forward to hearing his first-hand experience and enthusiasm for the Galapagos Islands.”
Further guest speakers and conference programme details are due to be announced soon.
Following Lata Expo, the third edition of the Lata Roadshow will take place between June 9-11 in Brighton, Cardiff and Oxford.
The roadshow will welcome agents interested in selling Latin America for an evening programme which aims to showcase the region and provide travel sellers with contacts, information and the tools needed to confidently sell the range of destinations.
Each event will “bring Latin America’s culture to life with food, drink and Latin American entertainment”, as well as a prize draw.
