Tour operators have launched prize giveaways, incentives and discounts for agencies to mark National Travel Agent Day on Friday (July 23).
Organised by Intrepid Travel, the day will celebrate the ‘vital role’ of agents and features fundraisers for Abta Lifeline and ITAA Benevolent Fund in Ireland. Those across the travel industry are encouraged to donate to, or set up a fundraising challenge, to mark the occasion – here.
Intrepid is offering agents the chance to win one of eight places on its first ever UK fam, the Walk the Cornish Coast trip departing September 13, 2021.
To enter, agents need to join the Intrepid Loves Agents Facebook group and tag a fellow agent who they think deserves a break. Both the person who nominates and the person tagged will be entered.
Entries are open until noon on July 26 and the winners will be chosen by Intrepid.
Another two spots will be available to win during Intrepid’s Big Fat Travel Quiz at 4pm on today (Friday, July 23), on the same Facebook page.
Intrepid is offering 20% off on bookings for 2022 made through agents, and discounts on agents’ own holidays have been increased to 60%, and 40% for a travel companion.
Among the other tour operators supporting the initiative – which is now in its second year – are Gold Medal, Sandals and Olympic Holidays.
Gold Medal is offering agencies a host of prizes in a month-long initiative which will be launched by sales director Nick Hughes, speaking in a video on the trade-only operator’s Facebook page.
The month-long ‘Spotlight on You’ campaign includes a National Travel Agent Day giveaway of a £250 voucher for the winning agent.
And during the campaign throughout August, agents can share their top sales tips, their stories, or how they’re promoting Gold Medal’s best deal.
Any agent who submits a response could be featured on the Gold Medal Facebook page and win a £100 worth of Farebank Rewards.
Sandals and Beaches Resorts’ UK tour operator Unique Caribbean Holidays Ltd is offering a discount deal to encourage customers to book a holiday through the trade to mark National Travel Agent Day.
Any clients who book a holiday to a Sandals or Beaches Resort today (July 23) with an agent will get £200 off for departures before October 31.
Agents need to use a promotional code NTAD200 and make the booking through the UK call centre for their clients to gain the offer.
Adam Stewart, executive chairman of Sandals Resorts International, has filmed a video thanking UK agents for their support during the pandemic. This will go live on the Selling Sandals Facebook page.
Olympic Holidays has launched a new ‘Thank You’ discount promo code which will be exclusively for travel agencies – £50 per booking – and an added incentive, which is a £50 Love to Shop voucher per booking for the staff member.
Other activities which have already been announced include a virtual Monopoly fundraiser, organised by the Association of Touring and Adventure Specialists, and half-price discounts from Explore.
Travel Weekly raised nearly £80 through an office bake sale this week despite a number of staff continuing to work remotely.
