Japan, Uzbekistan and Senegal have topped G Adventures’ annual list for the hottest upcoming destinations in adventure travel.
The 2019 list highlights the top ten spots that the escorted touring operator has picked out – from destinations on the rebound, to places where events and political changes are making it more exciting or accessible to visit.
Japan, which hosts the Rugby World Cup next year, topped the list, with Uzbekistan, which has relaxed visa entry requirements, in second spot and Senegal, which is recovering from the Ebola outbreak in the west of Africa, third.
Taiwan, an independent island off China, was in fourth position with G Adventures highlighting its culinary offering, northern Sri Lanka – for which G Adventures has seen a 58% year-on-year sales growth – in fifth, Jordan, which is home to two of G Adventures’ G for Good social enterprise projects, sixth.
Game of Thrones filming location Iceland was seventh, followed by Ethiopia, which has nearly doubled in popularity for G Adventures, Italy, which celebrates the 500thanniversary of Leonardo Da Vinci’s death, and Argentina’s Patagonia region, where visitors could spot a solar eclipse next year, completing the list.
