Norwegian Cruise Line has taken delivery of Norwegian Aqua, the first ship in its expanded Prima Plus Class.
The delivery ceremony took place at the Venice shipyard where the vessel is being built by Fincantieri.
Norwegian Aqua is 10% larger than the first two ships in the Prima Class, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva.
The ship will offer several unique experiences, including the world’s first hybrid rollercoaster with a water slide, the Glow Court interactive digital sports complex and the Aqua Game Zone, for immersive games and virtual reality.
Norwegian Aqua also features the largest 360-degree outdoor promenade ever built, Ocean Boulevard.
Bosses from the cruise line and ship builder attended the ceremony, including Fincantieri’s chief executive Pierroberto Folgiero, alongside Harry Sommer, chief executive of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and David Herrera, brand president of Norwegian Cruise Line.
Fincantieri is also preparing for the launching ceremony of Norwegian Aqua’s sister ship, Norwegian Luna, which is scheduled for Friday (March 14). Norwegian Luna is set to sail in spring 2026.
The cruise line will take 1,550 UK travel agents on a three-day round-trip launch cruise with Aqua, sailing from Southampton later this month.
Norwegian Cruise Line has named actor Eric Stonestreet as godfather of Norwegian Aqua. He will name the line’s first Prima Plus Class ship on April 13 in Miami.
After its maiden voyage, Norwegian Aqua will operate seven-day Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral in Florida from April 26.
