Wightlink cuts crossing fares

Cross-Solent ferry operator Wightlink has announced initiatives to boost travel to the Isle of Wight this year.

The first is a 20%-40% reduction in admission charges for coach parties to some of the island’s leading attractions, including Amazon World, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and Carisbrooke Castle.

Also, the operator is offering caravan drivers on its evening crossings a reduced fare of £66.60, including the caravan, car and up to three passengers.

The Sundowner fare, which is valid from July 27 to September 3, offers a minimum saving of £81.20 on the usual daytime rate. It is valid for travel between 6.25pm and 5am from Saturday to Thursday.

There are also special fares during the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival. Cars or motor homes with two passengers can travel for £21.50 after 9.25am Mondays to Fridays or at any time at weekends. The fare increases to £26.60 for four passengers. Foot passengers or extra passenger tickets cost £5.30.

Special fares are available to competitors taking part in the Wight Max and Fat Tyre races and to leisure cyclists visiting during the festival.
