Tirana offered by Regent

Regent Holidays has restored the capital of Albania, Tirana, to its programme for 2000, which will feature in the operator’s first dedicated city-break brochure, due out this month.

Albania was the first country offered by Regent when it launched in 1962. The operator pulled out of the destination in September 1998 because of the Balkan conflict. Senior consultant Christina Gibbons said:”The Foreign Office says Tirana is OK. We have had a lot of inquiries and decided to dip our toe in the water.”

The new Regent’s Cities programme offers a three-night break to Tirana from £369. It includes a Malev flight to Budapest, transfers and accommodation in the three-star Hotel Kalifornia.

The programme also features Kaliningrad, in the Russian enclave between Poland and Lithuania. Three nights cost from £384 and, unlike the rest of Russia, a visa can be obtained on arrival.
