Booking line in brochures under review
THOMSON has agreed to consult the Scottish Passenger Agents’ Association over its display of direct-booking information in brochures prior to the launch of its second editions. The olive branch was extended after a series of roadshows where agents reiterated their fury at the practice. Airtours has also met with agents across the country and will make a decision after its fifth and last roadshow in Birmingham this week.
SPAA president Val Foylansaid: “We’ve had urgent meetings – dialogue is continuing but nothing concrete has been agreed.”
SPAAtours convenor David Geddes added: “We won’t be happy until they step down.”
Airtours sales, marketing and development director Ed Sims said the operator was “assessing the situation”.
Thomson sales director Manuel Mascarenhas said there was “room for discussion” but added it would not be withdrawing the numbers from its second edition brochures.
