Harland and Wolff secures cruise deal

Belfast shipbuilder Harland and Wolff has won a contract to build two $350m luxury cruise ships for Luxus Holdings.

The company’s chief executive officer Les Royle said the new cruise operation will be run as Luxus Holdings for the present time.

He said the 380-passenger ships will operate some of the cruises out of the UK but itineraries are still being finalised.

The company’s registered office will be in London, with its operating headquarters in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.

The two vessels are due for delivery within the next couple of years with the possibility of a further two to follow after 12 months of operation.

“At over 200 metres in length and with 190 suites they will afford larger standard cabins and greater space per passenger than any other ship afloat,” said Royle.
