New Canaries options to boost Club Travel 2000/01programme

Report by STEVE JONES

CLUB Travel 2000 has further expanded its Canaries product with the launch of the 2000/01 winter sun programme.

Lanzarote has been introduced, while capacity has been increased in Tenerife as well as in the Costa del Sol on the Spainish mainland.

Glasgow departures to Gran Canaria have also been added as part of the company’s plan to increase its business out of northern airports.

Sales and marketing director Ian Scott said: “Lanzarote is a comfortable fit given our dominance in Tenerife and expanding presence on Gran Canaria.”

Self-catering and hotel packages are available in Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen and Playa del los Pocillos.

Lanzarote prices start at £229 for seven nights’ self-catering at the Tuscan Apartments in Costa Teguise.

Scott predicted strong take-up for the Glasgow flight after claiming sales for summer departures from the city had gone well.

“We are pressing ahead with the winter flights with some confidence,” he said.

In addition, he said that Scottish agents’ anger at the direct booking information in summer 2001 brochures was also working to their favour.

“Many have expressed strong dissatisfaction with some operators and have found us to be a natural ally,” said Scott.

New to the Tenerife programme are hotel packages at Playa de la Arena while the departure airports of East Midlands, Bournemouth and Exeter have been added.

Offers include one in 10 going free on selected dates, with two weeks for the price of one also being made available at selected properties on selected departures.

n Agents can earn £5 for every booking made with Club Travel 2000 until June 30. For each booking they will also be entered into a £1,000 prize draw.
