Trenz attracts record number of UK trade
A RECORD 346 New Zealand tourism companies drew the largest-ever UK trade contingent to Trenz, the country’s annual travel industry show, held at the end of last month. It was held in Christchurch, in South Island, and attracted 1,400 delegates. Thirty-one British companies were represented – an increase of six over the previous year. New Zealand Tourism Board regional manager Europe Barry Eddington said: “It shows the tremendous interest in the destination at the moment. The feedback from the UK buyers was that there is so much more new product now available in New Zealand.”
Air New Zealand UK sales manager Simon Bean said: “Many UK operators have said they will expand their 2001 programmes. The impact of a fresh range of upmarket holiday ideas linked to business-class air fares is also clearly working. We are seeing some very high-yield business coming through on pure leisure bookings.”
n Trenz will be back in Christchurch next year, then returns to Auckland in 2002 and 2003.
