Dreamticket.com signs deal with Barclaycard

Report by TANYA JEFFERIES

DREAMTICKET.com has announced a partnership with Barclaycard that will give it access to the credit-card company’s 10m UK customers.

The one-year agreement makes dreamticket.com the sole provider of package holidays through the barclaycard.co.uk Web site.

The deal emerged on the heels of a three-year agreement to supply holiday product to Virgin’s new on-line travel venture virgin.com/travel, which is expected to go live in the autumn (Travel Weekly June 5).

Dreamticket.com commercial director Jo Rzymowska said the company intended to promote itself via business partnerships, as well as pushing dreamticket.com itself as a stand-alone brand.

She said this would allow dreamticket.com to benefit from established brand names like Virgin and Barclaycard and to share the cost of advertising and marketing its on-line services.

“Our marketing strategy is a two-pronged approach,” said Rzymowska.

“We want business-to-business partnerships and we want to promote our own brand to consumers. But we are not going to go out and spend tens of millions of pounds on marketing in what is already a very cluttered market place.”

Rzymowska said more partnerships were in the pipeline but she refused to reveal more details at this stage.

Dreamticket.com was supposed to be launched at the end of last month but the date has been postponed for a few weeks while technical problems discovered during testing are ironed out.

The company currently has a team of staff working on the testing process.
