Moving from motivation to subordination in just one year

One year ago I worked for a company which allowed its managers to be innovative, creative and allowed them the freedom to manage its business.

This company recognised its best people and praised them openly. It offered support and training second to none. It motivated people by praise, reward and recognition. It was a company that Iwas proud to work for.

One year later I work for a company that rules by fear. A company that uses threats to get results. I work for a company that cannot decide which is more important – volume, sales or profit as the message varies depending on who you speak to. I receive no positive motivation, support or direction.

One year ago Iwas responsible for a £6m business but today Iam not even responsible for writing window cards.

Today I work in an environment which places more emphasis on a top-up insurance policy than getting a sale in the first place. I am constantly being told Ihave failed and am now forced to explain to my head of sales why Ihave failed if I have not sold enough of these policies.

One year ago I worked for Thomas Cook. Today Istill do.
