Hayes and Jarvis adds unsold stock to new 2001 brochure

Report by LISAJAMES

HAYES and Jarvis has incorporated some of this year’s product in its 2001 brochure in a bid to get rid of unsold stock.

Managing director Chris May said:”We have still got lots of holidays to sell this year. Agents do not have the racking space for two brochures, so we have included product from September onwards into next year’s programme. We spoke to a lot of retailers and we came to the conclusion that this was the best way to go about it.”

The new brochure, launched this week, runs until December 2001. Prices for 2000 product in the programme have been reduced by 5%-10%, while average prices for next year have increased by 3%. New features include the US Virgin Islands, served by a direct charter flight to St Thomas, starting in September. Prices start at £529 for seven nights’ bed and breakfast.

Also new is a 12-night cruise and stay programme in the Far East with Star Cruises. Passengers sail from Singapore and stay in Penang or Bali for five nights. Prices start at £1,039 for full board on the cruise and room-only on land.

Two-island holidays are new for the Indian Ocean. Prices lead in at £696 for 14 nights, comprising one-week half-board at Vilamendu Island Resort, and one week bed and breakfast at Bandos Island Resort.

May said Egypt has bounced back and has knocked the Maldives off the top spot of best-selling holidays for this year.

“The Red Sea resorts have come of age and people are using the the area as an alternative to the Canaries.”

In order to stimulate the early bookings market, the operator has introduced £50 off flights with British Airways and free car parking for up to 21 days for passengers flying with other airlines.
