If you’re sitting comfortably, we will begin

THE sharpest dressed man at British Airways Holidays has let slip the secret of his sartorial elegance.

Head of sales and marketing Colin Whaley, Backchat can exclusively reveal, irons his shirts sitting down.

Not unusual you may say. But Colin doesn’t just perch on the edge of a bed or table, he has a specially constructed ironing board complete with fixed seat.

Colin tells Backchat the antique ironing board is a family heirloom and he would not be without it.

He revealed this strange pastime during a BAH trip to Barcelona with the Backchat team.

While we were all drooling over the football stadium, tapas and Rioja, Colin was extolling the virtues of a comfy ironing board seat. For some reason, he wasn’t keen to send in a picture depicting him engaged in this unusual activity.

Meanwhile on the same trip, the Backchat team displayed a remarkable and highly unusual show of restraint and consideration.

BA only managed to provide a teensy weensy Boeing 737 for the flight back to Gatwick and therefore there were only a handful of Club Europe seats. The BA team with us had the tickets, but kindly offered them to the tired journalists stuck in economy – there was not one taker.
