Speedy: the new system will allow operators and consolidators to access the latest fares much quicker

BA develops eLoading system for electronic update of fares

BRITISH Airways has developed a new process that allows tour operators and consolidators to download its net fares electronically.

The eLoading fares system means companies will be able to update their databases by pressing a button rather than typing in the information manually.

BA’s head of business to business e-commerce Simon Parks-Smith said: “eLoading will save companies time and money and will mean that we can get our fares – especially any last-minute special rates – to the marketplace quicker.

“Anite is the first systems provider to go live with the system, but we plan to work with other service providers to offer the system to as many of our consolidators and tour operator partners as possible.”

Anite is already offering the system to its clients. Datalex and Billian Solutions are also testing it at present and BA expects they will start promoting eLoading to their customers shortly.

Globespan is the first consolidator to start using the system.

Scheduled air manager Mary Archibald said it was saving time by downloading large amounts of data quickly.
