Managers will leave unless roles improve
It should be of no surprise to the senior managers at Thomas Cook that morale is low among the shop managers. The new pay scheme, seemed good on the surface but those all-important targets were not given out until a third of the way through the year.
With salaries for managers starting at just £12,100, some sales consultants are earning more than managers.
The introduction of mystery shoppers with hidden cameras to spy on staff was always an unpopular move.
Sunday trading is coming in and soon some shops will be open seven days a week. What can staff expect in return for unsociable working hours?Around 2% a year.
It appears that all the things that made Thomas Cook stand out as a good employer are going or gone, especially since the Carlson merger. If things continue moving down they will lose more staff.
