Lot merges UKoffices with Swissair and Sabena
LOTPolish Airlines and its Qualiflyer partners Swissair and Sabena have merged UK offices. The trio will be based in LOT’s current UK headquarters in Regent Street, central London.
LOT director of product and marketing Andrzej Rode said the merged operations would not extend to sales and marketing activities in the UK. “Our decision to join Qualiflyer is a way to save money. We will look for further synergies in the UK,” said Rode.
He did not anticipate job losses from the office merger. LOT operates UKflights with British Airways to Poland which means service co-operation with Swissair/Sabena is uneconomical.
Rode added that Swissair/Sabena would take excess passengers in the future if flights from Heathrow and Manchester with LOT and BA were full. Meanwhile, LOT president and chief executive Jan Litwinski has confirmed that the LOT-BA partnership will remain for the foreseeable future, despite the carriers being in opposing alliances.
