Thrifty bids to lift Europe profile
THRIFTY has signed a two-year marketing deal with two leading European car-rental companies to expand the number of rental locations on mainland Europe.Under the deal, effective immediately, Thrifty, ADA of France and Europa Service of Germany have agreed to send reservations and car-rental customers to each other within Europe and throughout the rest of the world.
ADA has a fleet of 15,000 cars and 450 locations, while Europa Service has 610 office and operates 22,000 cars.
The deal will give Thrifty its first presence in Austria and Germany, where Europa Service is opening three Thrifty-branded locations at Munich, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt airports, by early next year.
ADA is also planning to operate up to 20 offices under the Thrifty brand in cities including Paris, Bordeaux, Lille, Nice and Toulouse.
Thrifty UK managing director Robert Burton said the deal increases the potential for inbound and outbound car-rental business between France, Germany and the UK.
n Thrifty UK has appointed Linda Paul as national sales manager. She replaces Rory Carson, who has been moved to the new role of sales, contract hire and leasing manager. Paul was previously Thrifty’s regional sales manager in the north.
In her new role she reports to sales and marketing director Andrew Burton.
