Telewest debut ‘disappointing’

TRAVEL Choice Direct has been assured by cable channel Telewest that it will reach 500,000 subscribers by the end of the year.

Managing director Chris Browne admitted that the roll-out of Telewest, which has a deal with the operator, has been disappointing. She said only 40,000 subscribers have access to the system – 60,000 fewer than expected.

Telewest travel and leisure general manager Keith Webber said: “The roll-out has been carefully managed as we want to get it right. We will have 500,000 subscribers by the end of the year.”

Meanwhile, Travel Choice Direct is expected to become a 24hr operation by the end of the year.

The £5m call centre in Kilmarnock currently operates 12hrs a day.
