AITO consults members on marketing bill

THE ASSOCIATION of Independent Tour Operators has asked members to suggest how much money should be spent on its new marketing plans.

At its annual general meeting last week, members were told AITOwanted to introduce measures including a new Web site and consumer branding at an estimated cost of £400 per member a year.

But some members said they were prepared to put in up to £1,000 per person.

New chairman Colin Trigger has asked members to come back to him with price proposals in time for ideas to be discussed at a board meeting on Wednesday.

“The AITOname is one that is well known in the industry but not to the outside world. Coming up with the right name is now a priority for us because we want to get on with our new marketing plans.”
