Air New Zealand seeks chief executive after McCrea quits

AIR NEW Zealand is looking for a new group chief executive officer following the departure of Jim McCrea.

McCrea, who held the position of chief executive officer and managing director for nine years, left 10 days ago, just weeks after Air New Zealand finalised its £230m acquisition of Ansett Australia.

McCrea’s departure looks set to be followed by further management shake-ups when Air New Zealand announces the results of an on-going management restructuring programme in September.

A spokeswoman for the airline refused to say how many people would be affected by the changes.

Pending the appointment of a new group chief executive officer, Air New Zealand’s chairman Sir Selwyn Cushing will take the role of executive chairman.
