JOB FOCUS:
Karen Hart, agency sales manager, Rank Group Holidays DivisionEducation and training: nine GCSEs from the Astley Cooper School, Hemel Hempstead.
First travel job: after leaving school, Karen worked as a reservations clerk at Haven’s UK reservations call centre. The position involved customer services with an element of sales. The managing staff within the office provided great support and gave her the skills and confidence required to develop within the travel business.
Advice for people wishing to develop a career in travel: “Motivation and interest in my work has been of key importance for me. By entering the business with no specific qualifications, I have relied on my energy and drive to get where I am today. My strongest piece of advice would be to enjoy yourself and never see something as out of your reach.”
